Why Partner
Minimize
Partnering is not quite the same thing as outsourcing - but clearly they are related.  You can build partnerships both within your organization (between departments and divisions, or even peer teams) as well as with other companies.  Your primary objectives in partnership should be:
  • Efficiency (Time)
  • Economy (Money)
  • Expertise (Talent)

Exocubic provides critical analysis of problem scope, including establishing the correct criteria for partnership.  If you are considering aligning teams or outsourcing a project of any kind, be sure you have the goals and objectives correctly set and focused before you start!

Service outside the box...
Minimize
Exocubic problem solving is not a complex process.  That may sound odd to hear from us, considering that we charge people for this "un-complex" service, but it is, nonetheless, the truth.  We certainly have developed a certain acumen for problem solving, sometimes in unique ways, but the process itself is very straight forward.

The majority of all project management training includes the concept of phases:
  • Conception
  • Design
  • Construction
  • Testing
  • Support
  • etc.
In some form, this pattern appears over and over again - so what's unique about that?  Well, first of all, it is not by any means simple to envision a project of any size through it's entirety and correctly define any of these phases unless you know what it is you are actually proposing to do.

The missing phase is something we call "Problem Space Analysis" - the concept phase of the project assumes that a project is in order, thus a solution is already underway.  Bad idea.  Sometimes you really don't need a new solution, but a better understanding of the problem.  Our service starts here (regardless of where you are at in the "project" process).  Problem Space Analysis is at the core of everything we do, in every phase, and without a silly pride to think that anyone can see so well into the future that you can always "nail it" on the first try - the box changes a little over time, so yesterday's problem may not be quite the same by the time we get to phase "whatever".

Project Oversight

This view of project management has a nice side effect - we can work very efficiently as an oversight group on a large project through the entire lifecycle with the goal of eliminating wasted effort; energy is often expended on the "non-problem" stuff that gets tacked into so many "solutions", including prioritization problems, inefficient change control, and similar activities.  Write a better RFP.  Get a better unbiased assessment of the proposals.  Make a good build Vs. buy decision.  Whatever the case, our goal is simple and clear: give a clear analysis of the problem-space and make sure whatever work gets done actually solves the problem.
